Woody Guthrie Publications in collaboration with The Woody Guthrie Archives are presently working on a pocket-sized guidebook, which will take locals and tourists alike on a tour of 19 places throughout New York City where Woody Guthrie lived, worked, and played.

My Name Is New York: Ramblin' Around Woody Guthrie's Town, will be released in July 2012, as part of the year-long celebrations commemorating Woody Guthrie's centennial.

This book includes over 75 original items from the Archival collection, such as never before published photographs, lyrics, and artwork by Woody Guthrie, documenting the 27 years he spent in New York City.

Although Woody Guthrie hails from Okemah, OK, his travels took him right across the country: From California to the New York Island. My Name Is New York explores the lofts, apartments, and couches where Guthrie lived and wrote some of his most well-loved songs.

This multi-media presentation uses archival photographs, historic audio, and rare film footage to recreate Guthrie's life in 1940's through 1960's New York City, providing a glimpse into the many places Guthrie called ‘home' in the city that never sleeps.
